My life motto is pretty simple- NUTELLA IS EVERYTHING!! If there’s one thing I always make sure I have in my pantry, it’s a big ol jar of Nutella. I can never get enough of baking with Nutella because the possibilities really are endless. Not only can you make so much with that one ingredient but you can use the spread on toast, fruit, etc. It goes well with pretty much everything and anything, you can even eat it straight from the jar.
Well lately, I’ve been obsessed with trying different recipes using puff pastry. Whether it’s something sweet or savory, I just can’t get enough of experimenting with it.
As always, I was craving something sweet so I went into my kitchen and took a look at what I could make that would be quick and easy. I decided to try and experiment with Nutella and puff pastry and see what I could come up with. You can easily make different shapes and non-twisty pastries, but I wanted to go for something that would give me the most amount of Nutella with pastry. Hah! It was the best decision I made. Every bite is oozing with Nutella and the pastry dough is so soft with a light crisp; it was the perfect combination.
My favorite part about this recipe is how easy it is to make. Literally, it’s just 4 simple ingredients and two of them are ingredients you will always have on hand in your kitchen: butter and granulated brown sugar.
You don’t necessarily have to use Nutella, you can use any kind of spread and add any additional toppings you want as well. The best part about baking is getting to experiment with different ingredients to find your perfect combination.
For me, I wanted to keep it simple: Nutella and Nutella only.
1 package Puff Pastry (thawed)
2 Tbs Melted Butter
Cane Brown Sugar
- Preheat oven to 400º F.
Take out the pastry sheets and spread the Nutella all over both sheets. If you’re like me and are absolutely obsessed with Nutella, then feel free to really pack it on there. No such thing as too much Nutella.
Take one sheet and lay it on top of the other to make a sandwich. Press down to make sure the sheets are attached really tightly.
With a pizza cutter, cut length size strips (about 1 inch wide).
Take your strip and gently twist it from each end to create a twirled look, wrap the strip into a coil and place onto a non-greased baking sheet.
Using a pastry brush, brush the pastries with melted butter and then sprinkle the brown sugar on top.
Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes. Enjoy 🙂
-Like I mentioned, you can easily substitute the Nutella with peanut butter or any other spread. You can even melt some chocolate and use that for your spread.
-If you want to add toppings such as chopped nuts, etc, then add those on to the spread before attaching both sheets to make a sandwich.
